Agility

Why Agility?
* Provides the handler and dog with the tools to become a team, increasing the bond between them.
* Teaches the handler how body language is read by their dog.
* Agility is not just for people who want to compete in trials.
* Terrific exercise for handler and dog.
* Classes are held year round.

In an agility trial, the dog and handler team negotiate obstacles under set time constraints. Dogs are divided into height divisions, so that they compete with dogs of their own size. There are several levels: Novice/Starters, Open/Advanced, Masters etc. Much like obedience, dog and handler are judged based on personal performance. They are working toward a qualifying score, but may also use verbal commands, body language and may talk to, or cheer their dog on during the run. Accuracy of the performance is judged, as well as running time. Placements are given first through fourth place with scores determining the winners.
